In the thermal system, it is mainly used to absorb the volume of the working medium increased due to temperature changes; In the water supply system, it is mainly used to absorb the water hammer impact caused by the opening and closing of valves, water pumps, etc., and to make up a small amount of water at night to make the main pump of the water supply system dormant, thereby reducing electricity consumption and extending the service life of the water pump.
Expansion tank structure: The expansion tank is composed of four parts: tank body, airbag, inlet/outlet, and air supplement port. The tank body is generally made of carbon steel, with an anti rust paint layer on the outside; The airbag is made of EPDM environmentally friendly rubber; The pre charged gas between the airbag and the tank body is already charged at the factory, and there is no need to add gas yourself.
The working principle of an expansion tank: When water under external pressure enters the expansion tank airbag, the nitrogen gas sealed in the tank is compressed. According to Boyle's gas law, the volume of the gas decreases after compression, and the pressure increases until the gas pressure in the expansion tank reaches the same pressure as the water, and the water inlet stops. When the pressure of water loss decreases, the gas pressure in the expansion tank is greater than the pressure of water. At this time, the gas expansion will squeeze the water in the airbag into the system until the gas pressure and water pressure reach the same level again, and the drainage will stop.
